Sep 19, 2017
NEW YORK, Sept. 19, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Voya Financial, Inc. (NYSE: VOYA), announced today that it has been named to the 2017 Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) for the second consecutive year. Launched in 1999, the DJSI represents the gold standard for corporate sustainability and is the first global index to track the leading sustainability-driven companies based on an analysis of financially material Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors and S&P DJSI's robust index methodology.
"Our inclusion in the DJSI validates our continuous effort to apply the increasingly-important corporate responsibility lens across all lines of business," said Chairman and CEO Rodney O. Martin, Jr. "We believe this designation differentiates us within the financial services industry and will continue to drive our business forward."
Voya Financial scored well above the industry average in categories including customer relationship management and citizenship/philanthropy. Having made significant progress on its Corporate Responsibility 2020 Commitments, as reported in its 2016/2017 Corporate Responsibility Annual Report, the company increased its scores in 15 different DJSI categories including human capital development, business risks and opportunities and environmental reporting. Out of 32 companies in the diversified financial services category invited to apply, Voya Financial is one of only eight companies named to the DJSI.
Martin continued, "Corporate responsibility is a source of pride among our people, and is a cornerstone of our corporate culture. We are very proud to be recognized within our industry for integrating CR into our day-to-day business operations."
