DALLAS, Sept. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- ING U.S. CEO Robert Leary will be the keynote speaker at the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce's Chairman's Awards Dinner Gala at its 31st Annual National Convention and Business Expo to be held in Dallas on Saturday evening, Sept. 25, 2010. Leary's remarks will focus on how financial services firms can improve their marketing and outreach to the Hispanic marketplace, providing perspective on ING's efforts to boost retirement plan and life insurance adoption among Hispanic businesses and individuals. His remarks are part of ING's overall support of the U.S. Hispanic Chamber (USHCC) and their affiliated Hispanic chambers throughout the U.S.

"Hispanics have less access to retirement plans and own significantly less life insurance, leaving them and their families at risk of financial hardship," said Leary. He added, "Financial services companies can, and need to, do a much better job reaching the U.S. Hispanic community. Simply translating material or having a toll-free number just won't cut it. If a company is going to build the trust necessary to be successful with Hispanics, it takes a long-term commitment to supporting local financial professionals who understand the needs of their communities."

ING has been expanding its Hispanic marketing effort for several years. The company created a dedicated team to further its enterprise-wide multicultural sales efforts in its life insurance, employee benefit, and retirement businesses. The team provides marketing and sales assistance, in-language and in-culture financial education programs, training and other customized support to distribution partners, plan sponsors and ING's regional sales organizations.

In 2010, ING became a sponsor of the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. In addition to recognition at USHCC events like the National Convention and Business Expo, ING has begun to pilot an effort with selected local Hispanic chambers and Hispanic financial professionals to promote stronger retirement plan adoption among the Hispanic businesses. The effort will include programs to educate business owners about retirement plans. In addition to programs for business owners, ING offers financial literacy workshops for businesses to educate their employees about personal finance topics. These educational workshops are offered in both Spanish and English.

ING is a global financial institution of Dutch origin offering banking, investments, life insurance and retirement services to over 85 million private, corporate and institutional clients in about 40 countries. With a diverse workforce of about 107,000 people, ING is dedicated to setting the standard in helping our clients manage their financial future.
