Latino Leaders magazine has named ING's Fabian Gonzalez to its "Ones to Watch" list published in its current issue. Gonzalez is vice president of multicultural sales for ING. The magazine developed a list to put a face on the "emerging stars" of Latinos in the U.S. and beyond.

The magazine cited Gonzalez as being instrumental in identifying and executing business opportunities for ING in the U.S. He works closely with distribution agents around the country helping them grow their Hispanic sales force. He also works with the employees of large companies to provide in-language financial-literacy workshops. In its write-up on Gonzalez, the magazine said, "Some companies give lip service to their Hispanic segments, and some, like ING, successfully position contributors like Gonzalez to take a large bite of the marketplace using successful, applicable strategies like these."

"Fabian has been instrumental in helping ING achieve tremendous sales growth within the Hispanic marketplace. His attention to his customers and understanding of the market makes him a key asset to our team and a leader at our company," said X. Rick Niu, chief marketing officer for ING U.S. Retirement Services and head of multicultural sales across ING in the U.S.

Gonzalez brings more than 20 years of insurance experience in the U.S. and South America to his role. He primarily supports ING's retail life insurance and employee benefits businesses. In addition to his sales role, he has developed over 100 culturally relevant, Spanish-language marketing materials. He has also appeared on in newspapers and radio stations around the U.S. educating Hispanic consumers about the need for life insurance. Gonzales resides in Minneapolis.

ING recently announced an expansion of the company's enterprise-wide multicultural sales efforts, particularly in its retirement services business. ING added four Hispanic staff members to its multicultural sales team to provide marketing and sales assistance, in-language and in-culture financial education programs, training, and other customized support to distribution partners, plan sponsors and ING's regional sales organizations.
