ING Life Companies this week held its first-ever ING Case Design Academy for key support staff of retail life insurance producers and general agencies. The two-day sessions provided workshops on advanced case design as well as technology and products offered by its life insurance companies.

"The current economy is forcing many life insurance distributors to retool and refocus, which makes it a perfect time to educate staff to expand their abilities to better support clients," said Kurt Fasen, senior vice president and head of ING Life Sales Support. "The ING Case Design Academy was designed to teach the staff core and advanced concepts and provide insight and advanced understanding of not only case design, but underwriting and client-support tools."

The sessions included eight workshops on topics from executive benefits and Section 1035 exchanges to premium financing. Attendees also got an opportunity to interact with a number of ING's home-office staff.

Ken Fultz, director of operations for Atlantic Coast Advisory Group of Charleston, S.C., said "Even though I've been to a lot of programs in the last year, I immediately began picking up ideas that will strengthen our arsenal of tools to help our people sell."

"These attendees not only are better informed, but they're in a better position to help their clients and, ultimately, help their firms grow," said Fasen. "We plan to continue the education offerings with these and other attendees who are a critical part of creating life insurance solutions for individuals and businesses."
