ING Foundation president Rhonda Mims has been named one of four winners of the CSR Executives of the Year award, sponsored by PR News. The ING Foundation is the charitable giving arm of financial services leader ING.
The CSR Executives of the Year Award is part of PR News' Corporate Social Responsibility Awards, which are widely considered one of the leading CSR awards competitions. The awards recognize "people and companies that successfully demonstrate that altruism, philanthropy and employee commitment to 'do good' can go a long way towards making an impact on a community, key stakeholders and on a company's bottom line." Entries are judged by a blue chip panel of corporate and agency executives, academicians, as well as by the staff of PR News.
"On behalf of all the employees of ING, we are thrilled that PR News has seen fit to recognize our efforts," said Rhonda Mims, president of the ING Foundation and senior vice president of ING's Office of Corporate Responsibility and Multicultural Affairs. "It is important marketplace validation of the foundation's strategic approach and of the early success of our financial empowerment advocacy efforts."
Over the past year, the ING Foundation has concentrated on bringing greater strategic focus to its giving strategy and to developing an advocacy platform around financial empowerment, particularly among underserved communities such as multicultural youth. "Our goal was to align our efforts with our core competencies and fine tune our giving to generate more meaningful impact in our communities and across the business," said Mims. "We focused on financial empowerment because the need is terribly urgent, and ING has the expertise and resources to create positive, long-term change."
The other winners in the CSR Executives of the Year category are Agata Tyszkiewicz of Publicis, Jeff Glueck of Travelocity.com Inc., and Kevin Moss of BT Group.
