ING is proud to announce its participation in the sixth annual financial services industry's Community Build Day. It joins 75 other companies of The Financial Services Roundtable that have committed to building a home in more than 202 cities across the United States, as well as participate in other activities aimed at improving the communities in which the companies serve.
In metro Atlanta, ING is partnering with ACE Group, BB&T, NOVA Information Systems, SunTrust and City of Hope, a community development corporation affiliated with Ray of Hope Christian Church, including Habitat for Humanity - DeKalb to build a home for a single mother and her four children in Lithonia, Georgia. In celebration of Community Build Day, ING employees will volunteer during the first build day on Saturday, August 4. ING and its partners will pound a ceremonial "first nail" at 8 a.m. to kick off the volunteer project. Company executives, along with DeKalb County Commissioner Lee May, Senator Henry "Hank" Johnson and other invited county and state government officials are expected to participate in the ceremony to show their support of this community effort.
"ING is a national sponsor of Community Build Day because this is one way we can demonstrate our commitment as a responsible corporate citizen," said Rhonda Mims, president, ING Foundation. "Partnering with other financial services companies to build a Habitat home allows ING yet another opportunity to promote volunteerism among our employees. This effort is equally significant to the company as the financial support we provide to nonprofits. Helping organizations like Habitat to develop and further expand their programs is important to achieving our mission to build strong, vibrant communities in the locations where we do business."
Each weekend between August and November, employee volunteers from participating companies will lend a hand to finish the home at 5366 Medena Way in Lithonia to support Habitat for Humanity - DeKalb in their goal to eliminate poverty housing in DeKalb County by constructing and building simple, decent homes. The home will be dedicated in November.
