ING Americas announced that Bridget M. Healy has been named executive vice president and chief legal officer for its operations in North and South America. Ms. Healy, who joined ING on July 2 and is based in New York, will oversee the legal function for ING Americas in the United States, Canada and Latin America, in addition to the external affairs and compliance functions for ING Americas in the United States.

As a member of the ING leadership team, she will work closely with other members of senior management and will report to Tom McInerney, ING Executive Board member, chairman and chief executive officer, ING Insurance Americas. Ms. Healy joins ING from The Travelers Companies, Inc., where she was senior vice president and group general counsel for the past two years.

Mr. McInerney said, "As the demand for investment, wealth management and insurance products accelerates throughout North and South America, it requires an uncompromised commitment to integrity, ethics, and doing what's right for our customers.

The role of chief legal officer is fundamental to ensuring that ING's business goals are achieved consistent with existing laws and regulations, and more importantly, that ING embraces the responsibility and challenge of being an industry leader. We believe that Bridget embodies ING's global corporate values and standards, and we are fortunate to have her to lead our Legal function in the Americas."

"It is a privilege to join ING's exceptional management team. ING is a dynamic global financial services company that is committed to unwavering ethical practices and integrity," Ms. Healy said. "I look forward to working with the outstanding and diverse group of business and legal talent it has across the Americas."

Ms. Healy received her J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center, magna cum laude, and is a graduate of Brown University, with an honors degree in International Relations and French Studies.
