Minneapolis ING today announced that it has introduced the ING Indexed Strategic Accumulator Universal Life, issued by Security Life of Denver Insurance Company. The product allows policyholders to earn index credits linked in part to increases, if any, in the S&P 500®(1) (subject to a maximum index credit rate) with protection from downside risk through a guaranteed minimum interest rate.

ING Indexed Strategic Accumulator UL is designed for cash-value growth, especially in the early policy years, including strong first-year cash surrender values. This type of policy can appeal to business owners who need to strengthen their company balance sheet or attract and retain key employees. Others may find it attractive for use in suitable premium financing or estate planning.

With traditional universal life, interest credited to the policy is based in large part on the insurance company's portfolio. This is the same method used in the fixed strategy of ING Indexed Strategic Accumulator UL. In addition, this product has an indexed strategy where values are credited with a guaranteed minimum interest rate plus an index credit that is linked in part to increases, if any, in the S&P 500® (subject to a maximum index credit rate).

"An indexed UL offers a nice alternative for individuals who want the death benefit protection, cash-value buildup, and the flexibility of a universal life insurance policy, with an upside potential to the cash value when the markets are strong," said Jim Gelder, president of ING Life Distribution. "It provides choice to the policyholder of whether to use a fixed strategy, indexed strategy, or a combination."

  Other key product features include:
  -- Three death benefit options
  -- No surrender charges
  -- Guaranteed issue

Policyholders are not directly investing in the stocks of the S&P 500®, or in the index itself. The disclosure supplement to application has details on the calculation of the index credit.

ING Indexed Strategic Accumulator Universal Life insurance policy form #1171, with an equity indexed feature, varies by state and may not be available in every state. It is issued by Security Life of Denver Insurance Company, a member of the ING family of companies. Not available in New York. The product is not a variable contract or any type of investment contract. All guarantees are based on the financial strength and claims-paying ability of Security Life of Denver Insurance Company who is solely responsible for the obligations under its own policies.
