Atlanta-based ING U.S. Financial Services was one of 142 companies to receive the distinction and seal as one of the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation's 2007 Best Places to Work for GLBT Equality. The HRC recently recognized companies, including ING U.S. Financial Services, who scored a perfect 100 percent on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation's Corporate Equality Index.
"We proudly accept this recognition as one of the companies on the HRC Foundation's 2007 List of Best Places to Work for GLBT workers," said Thomas J. McInerney, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, ING Americas. "We are committed to fostering an environment that leverages the talents of GLBT employees, as well as ensuring that our work environment is inclusive and constructive for everyone. Finding, hiring and retaining talent is a high priority at ING, and one of the key drivers for the enterprise's long-term success, and this recognition will provide ING with increased access to diverse pools of talent."
The 2005 Corporate Equality Index surveyed and rated 446 companies on a scale of 0-100 percent on organizational initiatives that provide positive work environment for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people.
"We are pleased to offer this seal to help companies like ING tell this story: Their business philosophy is one that includes the hard work of GLBT Americans," said Daryl Herrschaft, Director for the Human Rights Campaign Foundations' Workplace Project. "We have reached a new point in corporate America where most companies appreciate the realities of life for GLBT people and have gone beyond simply enacting policies, to visibly celebrating them as a business strategy to attract and retain top talent."
The Human Rights Campaign is America's largest civil rights organization working to achieve gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender equality. By inspiring and engaging all Americans, HRC strives to end discrimination against GLBT citizens and realize a nation that achieves fundamental fairness and equality for all.
"There are multiple reasons why ING is a great place to work for all employees, but one of the key factors is that we continually strive to make it easier for our talented employees to build successful long-term careers in a respectful workplace," said Jacqui Robertson, vice president of Workplace Diversity, ING U.S. Financial Services.
