ING US Financial Services, part of ING Group, will be the presenting sponsor of the Money Conference for Women, a free conference developed to help improve financial literacy among women in Connecticut. ING will be playing a significant role in the conference in Cromwell, Conn., on Saturday, October 23, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., to help women better understand financial planning and investing strategies to help secure their financial futures.

Several Hartford-based ING executives have important roles at the conference. Sue Collins, chief actuary and chief financial officer, ING US Institutional Financial Services, will welcome the expected 700 participants to the Money Conference for Women and discuss financial literacy and the importance of women taking control of their finances and planning for retirement. Also, ING experts will host Financial Focus Workshops at the conference, including:

-- Getting Started in Investing. Carolyn Harris-Burney, vice president,
ING US Financial Services, will help participants learn "the rules of
the game," what to expect, and investing strategies to reach various
financial goals. Topics include: basic investment terms,
compounding, dollar-cost averaging, and investment clubs.
-- Retirement Planning: A Reality Check. Mary Ellen Gordon, retirement
advisor, ING Financial Horizons, will address myths and facts about
preparing for retirement. Important concepts for creating retirement
income will be covered, including how much money will be needed in
retirement, Social Security Income, investing in retirement, and the
rules of withdrawing your savings and working with financial advisers.

Each workshop will be presented twice, once at 11 a.m. and again at 1:15 p.m.

In addition to the ING presenters, about 25 volunteers from the company will serve as "money mentors," exhibitors, and facilitators during the conference.
